Clinics & Services
Please help us to help you!
There are a range of services that might provide you with the help you need more quickly than waiting for a GP appointment. Our receptionists have received enhanced training to assist you find the right care at the right time. Please provide the receptionist with as much information as possible so you can make the most of the services available.
If you require an urgent same-day appointment with a doctor or nurse you will be triaged by a highly qualified nurse who is supervised by the doctors and the advice given is in line with practice protocol.
Travel Advice and Vaccination
Contact the practice nurse at least six weeks before you intend to travel for the above services. There may be a charge for administering certain vaccines and the cost of the vaccine itself, as not all vaccines come within the scope of the NHS. More information can be found on the above tab.
Minor surgery is available by appointment after referral by the doctor.
Patients Over 75 Years
If you are aged 75 or over, you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the practice nurse, district nurse or health visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be arranged.
All our patients over 75 will be notified of a named GP who is responsible for ensuring they receive the best care suited to their needs. This does not mean you are restricted to seeing only this doctor. It just provides you with the name of a GP to contact if you want to discuss your care or treatment. All our doctors and nurses will have access to your medical records when they treat you.
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes and carers.
Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment.
Emergency contraception is available at the surgery and an appointment given on the day. If you need a quiet place to talk to the receptionist, please ask.
Stop Smoking Service
Although all of our doctors and nurses can provide help and support, we can offer dedicated one-to-one sessions with a member of the smoking cessation team when you are ready to give up smoking. Please ask a member of staff for an appointment.
Again, although any of our doctors and nurses can offer dietary advice, our trained Health Care Assistants can provide additional one-to-one support and motivation over a course of visits. This is a FREE service and can be used in conjunction with other slimming programmes.

Patients suffering from problems related to drug or alcohol use can access help at Donneybrook Medical Centre. Appointments can be arranged after referral from your doctor.
